Samsung printer ML 1630
Got a problem with the disc that comes with the new printer? Ah, the driver doesn't load so windows 7 doesn't recognize this device!
Let customer service tell you that a good up-to-date driver is available on the Samsung website. You don't need to have the printer plugged in to download as long as you are just saving the downloaded driver. The printer does need to be turned on and the Usb cable plugged into the PC before you double-click the download to start its install wizard.
But getting the driver from the website will drive you nuts! Biggest clue: when you have located a dim chart of drivers that do seem to be available, the very top one on the list V 3.04.96:10 really is for Windows 7 and if you »double-click«. each item-- from the left, the version number, da-da, the word "driver"-- this double-clicking will magically start the download!
No highlighting or hinting happens, but it does suddenly start the download.
The printer, like all my other Samsung stuff, is so well designed. But the website?
